In the hardest Grand Final yet seen in the last six years Dave will take his place with former winners Tracey Faith, Colin Greatorix, Dave Debs and Michael King as a winner. Dave will return next year as a Special Guest to perform at the Galston country Music Festival, held annually at Fagan Park Galston.
The Cooper,s Golden Saddle Award is an award given to an outstanding Independent Artist who is considered "the best" at their chosen field in Country music. Dave, who performed last, stood in awe as he watched amazing performances from Donella Plane and Daniel Thompson. The look on his face was one of (Oh well, I can go home now!) and it came as a complete shock to him when he was announced as the winner by special Guest Presenter Jimmy Little. Dave received as his prize, a cheque for $500.00 from Cooper,s Brewery, a recording package from Graylabel Productions, a Publicity Pack from the Independent Country Music Bulletin, a beautiful handcrafted Golden Saddle and Certificate, a personal invitation to perform in 2003 at next years Festival at Fagan Park and on-going support and publicity over the next twelve months, courtesy of the festival.
The Cooper,s Golden Saddle Award is not an amateur contest and there are no losers, only Runners-up. Donella and Daniel received an Appearance Fee, Certificate and of course a beautifully crafted Golden Saddle.
All Finalists and Grand-Finalists are to be congratulated on being nominated, as this is one award they cannot nominate themselves for. The award is Australia wide and they were chosen in the first place for their outstanding ability.
The COOPER,S GOLDEN SADDLE AWARD is an activity of the Galston Country Music Festival and the Rotary Club of Galston.

Good fortune everywhere! The Galston Country Music Festival would like to congratulate COOPERS GOLDEN SADDLE AWARD GRAND- FINALIST Travis Sinclair on being chosen as official understudy for Lee Kernaghan in the Man From Snowy River. Travis will not be able to appear at the Festival now on the Sunday 8th September, as he will be in rehearsal for his part. Although in one sense it is sad that we will not see Travis perform as a Grand-Finalist, I know everyone wishes him well with this new- found good fortune. Congratulations to you Travis once again from the Festival Organisers and the Rotary Club of Galston on being chosen for such an important role.
It seems Travis's good fortune was also good fortune for talented Balladeer DOUBLE DECKER DAVE MACALLUM from Moree NSW. Dave has been chosen by Rotary to replace Travis in the Grand-Finals of the COOPERS GOLDEN SADDLE AWARD and will join Daniel Thompson from Green Point NSW and Donella Plane from Mirrabooka NSW on Sunday 8th September at Fagan Park Galston for this coveted event. The prestigious award will be presented by Country Legend JIMMY LITTLE who will also be performing on the day. MICHAEL KING, the 2001 winner will return this year to hand over his title and to perform as an official guest on the day.
And there's more!!
ARTHUR BLANCH will be joining Festival Patron FRANK IFIELD and JIMMY LITTLE to celebrate THE YEAR OF THE OUTBACK and a wealth of years as Country Music Performers between them.
