Soundcheck at The Galston Country Music Festival 1998. Along with Rotary members, Tony and Vicki Page and poet, Len Knight, Pat began the festival in 1997 as a fundraising activity with The Galston Rotary Group. 9,000 people turned up for that original event; and 1998 was even better.
After weeks of heavy rain, September 13th dawned bright and sunny and a large crowd turned out for an unforgettable day. Acts included The Wolverines, Anne Kirkpatrick, Pat Drummond, Andrew Clermont, Lawrie Minson, Pamela Drysdale, Helen Kay and The Harmonicatz, Stephen Cheney and Others. Festival Patron, the legendary Frank Ifield, opened the event along with The Galston Mayor.
Winner of The Prestigous Golden Saddle New Talent Award, Tracy Faith, gained a terrific reception from the large crowd. Galston is now well on the way to becoming THE major Sydney Country Music Festival.
