The Ballad Of Davy Crockett
and Georgie Russell Words & Music:
Geoff Drummond
Dateline: 02/4/1952 : Erskineville NSW, NSW
This lovely song of
Geoff's is a tribute to childhood in the Golden Age of the Disney
Film. It was mid way through last century in the 1950's. when
two small boys were taken to the movies by their Aunty Mary. Their
mother's life, in the run up to Christmas when Santa brought the
Davy Crockett and Georgie Russell Suits was suddenly consumed
by the world of the The Alamo. Geoff and I waged battle after
battle with the Bell Boys and The Norris Kids on 'the walls' (the
paling fences) of 30 Charles Street, Erskineville. Australian
childhood fantasies at the height of the Americana Empire's domination
through Hollywood supported by family shots of the era. My brothers
Ron, Danny, Geoff and Steve feature throughout:):)
