GRAND FINALISTS announced
for the COOPER'S GOLDEN SADDLE AWARD 2005
Embargo until noon Monday June 13
It is with great pleasure
that the Rotary Club of Galston announce the 2005 Grand
Finalists who will be appearing at the Galston Country Music
Festival on Sunday 11th September. It was great to see such a
stunning list of Finalists and also the inclusion of some very
young Performers who were noticed this year. Rotary's decision
is as follows-

SALLY-ANNE WHITTON - TAMWORTH NSW
PAUL COSTA - ROBINVALE VIC
**
Finalists for this year are: Paul Costa, Carla Herrod, Carol
Donovan, Matt Manning, Royden Donohue, Ronni Rae Rivers, Daisy-May
Wegner, Darren Colston, Amos Morris, Jessica Belle, Sandra Humphries
& Sally-Anne Whitten.
**
The standard was again a wonderful representation of incredibly
talented Independent Artists and as usual it was a very painful
decision to choose the three Grand Finalists for the Members of
Galston Rotary. None of the Finalists could nominate themselves
for this award and should feel very proud that their individual
talent is being noticed on a "National" level.
**
Shortly we will be announcing who this year's Presenter of
the Cooper's Golden Saddle Award will be as negotiations are still
being finalised in this area. Last year saw Judy Stone present
the award and this year's guest will be just as exciting- stay
tuned for this one.
**
All three Grand Finalists, will come to Sydney on September 11,
2005 to perform at Fagan Park, Galston, to compete for prizes
which include, a beautiful handcrafted Golden Saddle courtesy
of Cooper's Brewery, Cash, a Certificate of Excellence, A Voucher
courtesy of Ramrod Recording Studio, Publicity for the next twelve
months and an invitation to come back to the Festival held in
2006 as a Special Guest Artist to perform.

Previous winners have been Rob Wilson, Mark Tempany, Double-Decker
Dave, Michael King, Dave Debs, Colin Greatorix and Tracey Faith.

ROB WILSON will return this year as an Invited Guest to perform
at the Festival in September, which was part of his win in 2004.
**
This decision took a number of weeks of intense deliberation
on the part of Galston Rotary, as the Finalists were so diverse
in their composition, it made a final decision a very hard task
indeed.
**
The GALSTON COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL is delighted to
announce that John Rowles and Doug DeKroo, have agreed
to present this year's Special Award to the Winner and Runners-up.

again"!
September 11th 2005
is the time to mark in your Diaries for the ninth annual GALSTON
COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL. It is also the time when one of our
Independent Artists is honoured with the presentation of the COOPER'S
GOLDEN SADDLE AWARD for outstanding ability in their chosen
area of Country Music.
Each year "Industry Spotters" are selected, who
in turn choose twelve Finalists from a pool of Australian Independent
Professional Artists and as artists are not able to enter and
are chosen to become a finalist, it is a bit like winning
the Lottery. It is then Galston Rotary Club's very hard
task to choose from this twelve, three GRAND FINALISTS
who will be invited by the Festival to come to Sydney to perform.
The winner on the day will be chosen by Industry Judges and will
receive a beautiful hand crafted Golden Saddle, Performance
Fee, Studio time to record two songs Produced by Herm Kovac at
Ramrod Recording Studio Sydney, Certificate and a Special Invitation
to return as a Special Guest at the next Festival held in September
2006. The winner also receives a Publicity Pack that goes with
the win each year. This year's festival will be held on Sunday
September 11th 2005.
The two Runners-up both receive a Performance Fee, Publicity,
Certificate and Golden Saddle Award and returning
this year, as a very special guest will be 2004 winner ROB
WILSON
Previous Golden Saddle winners have been ROB WILSON, Mark Tempany,
Double-Decker Dave, Michael King, Dave Debs, Colin Greatorix and
Tracey Faith.
The GRAND-FINALISTS will be announced in June and
all Finalists will receive a Memento in due course to celebrate
their nomination.
